Trouble And Strife is a vibrant little retro cafe located on Goodwood Road. Inside the décor is mismatched giving off a quirky cool vibe.
They have a very small regular menu and a specials menu that is seasonal and frequently changes each week.
My weak mocha was nicely steamed with a creamy layer of froth on top. Good combination of coffee and chocolate and really nicely balanced.
Orange and apple juice. They make lovely customisable freshly squeezed juices on site.
With the cold and dreary winter weather in Adelaide I was really looking forward to trying their soup special but they had already sold out by the time I arrived and it wasn’t even lunch time yet. So the next best thing was a baked potato and lucky for me there were only 2 serves left which just shows how popular their cafe is.
Baked potato with vegetarian bean chilli, sour cream, cheese and coriander. I also added bacon and avocado. My baked potato was fully loaded! So warming and hearty, it was the ultimate comfort food. They were so generous with all of the toppings but the vegetarian bean chilli was not spicy enough for me and I could not taste the chilli at all. It definitely needed more spiciness.
They also had a range of home made baked goods on display.
Chocolate brownie. This brownie had a light cocoa flavour and wasn’t very rich or chocolatey at all. The texture was light and fluffy and more like a cake. I prefer my brownies crispy on the outside and more moist and fudgey on the inside so I was a little disappointed with the taste and texture.
Trouble And Strife are so popular with most of their daily specials selling out way before lunch time. Their prices are also amazingly affordable and great value for money for such quality food. If you want to try one of their specials make sure you arrive bright and early.
