I felt like something sweet tonight so I asked K to take me out for dessert.. well pleaded really because K isn’t much of a sweet person. Luckily he agreed and we went to The Aviary Dessert Kitchen located on The Parade.

It’s a cute little place decorated with little birds and cages all over the place.

Looking at the menu I really wanted the chocolate fondant dessert special because I love chocolate cake that oozes but it was a 20 minute wait and I didn’t want to wait that long. I wanted my dessert now!

I got their signature dessert eton mess instead. Shards of meringue with nutella mousse, fresh strawberries and hazelnut and almond praline. The meringue was light, crispy and crunchy. The nutella mousse was smooth and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Not too sickening or overpowering. Fresh strawberries balanced out the chocolatey mousse and the praline gave it a beautiful crunchy texture.

K got the berrylicious pannacotta. Vanilla bean pannacotta with berry compote, fresh strawberries and custard cream. The pannacotta tasted nice but the texture was a bit too firm. I prefer something a lot more silkier and softer. K ended up eating more of my dessert than his own.

They do a variety of organic and boutique teas imported from France and specialised hot drinks like peanut butter hot chocolate and green tea matcha latte.

Overall a nice little dessert place. My sugar craving was satisfied and I’d definitely come back again.

      Definitely Bracegirdles! You can’t go wrong with Belgian waffles that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Pair it with some Belgian chocolate, strawberries and vanilla ice cream and you are in heaven!
