Ruby Red Flamingo
Ruby Red Flamingo is one of my top 10 favourite restaurants in Adelaide. K absolutely loves eating pasta and this is his favourite place.
There is no booking system and they only accept walk ins so whenever I feel like eating here I always come as soon as they open at 5.30pm on the dot. Even then there’s always a crowd lining up at the door which shows how great and popular this place is.
They don’t have menus. Everything is written on blackboards on the walls all around the rooms and they have a large specials board which they bring to you.
Cured swordfish with citrus vinaigrette and red cabbage on top.
Cured salmon with fresh fennel on top.
The fish was fresh, thinly sliced and just melts in your mouth. The dressings were light and tangy. Both dishes were so simple, elegant and delicious.
The arancini balls were big. Crispy on the outside but a little dry on the inside. I prefer my arancini creamier and more on the wetter side.
The stand out dish has to be the crab spaghetti. Lots of blue swimmer crab with cherry tomatoes bursting with sweetness and chilli. We order this dish every single time because it is so good. The best crab pasta I’ve ever eaten.
We also ordered some salad and potatoes on the side. K says they make the best salad here and absolutely loves the way they make their vinaigrette. He orders it every single time we come here.
White chocolate and coconut panna cotta with chocolate crumble. It wasn’t quite set and I found the texture to be more like mousse.
I am never disappointed when I dine at Ruby Red Flamingo. The food is consistently amazing every single time and I always leave satisfied with a full belly. One of the best Italian restaurants in Adelaide.
