After finishing my brunch at Queen Street Cafe I just had to visit Red Door Bakery located a few shops down for something sweet to finish off my meal. I had only planned to get one item but everything just looked so good that I couldn’t decide on one item and I ended up walking out with 3! Oops!
Of course I had to get a crème brûlée tart. It is a must try if you ever visit Red Door Bakery. The tart was encased in crisp, buttery, golden flaky pastry. The vanilla custard was so creamy, beautifully silky, luscious and deliciously smooth with a crisp, crunchy, crackling burnt sugar top. Oh my god! This tart is seriously amazing.
I also got a salted caramel brick. A fudgey cake type chocolate base topped with thick salted caramel, dipped in rich dark chocolate and finished off with flakes of sea salt. As soon as I took a bite salted caramel was oozing out. It was heavenly and super rich. A delight for all you chocolate and salted caramel lovers out there.
And last but not least I just had to try their Belgian chocolate chip, pistachio and sea salt cookie. Rich bursts of Belgian chocolate chips, nutty pistachios and flecks of sea salt through a crunchy, crumbly cookie. This was not an ordinary chocolate chip cookie. This was the ultimate chocolate chip cookie! I am such a fan of salted foods. It really just enhances the flavours and brings it to another level.
Red Door Bakery has amazing sweets that could rival any French patisserie. They also do amazing gourmet pies and sausage rolls and have 3 different locations around Adelaide. Very convenient when you want an afternoon treat.
