25 Apr Light Bulb Cafe
Light Bulb Cafe is such a bright and cute cafe! Located down the lovely scenic strip of King William Road. It was so easy to get a park here.
Mr A had recently returned from a 10 day trip to Sydney so I was keen to catch up with him and hear all about it. A was also joining us for breakfast as well.
Both of them went out the night before and got extremely drunk. When Mr A arrived he was still hung over and not feeling well and had to leave.
Fortunately A was feeling fine and was able to stay and enjoy breakfast with me.
They had the menu written on a large blackboard hanging from the wall. What I really loved is they had the option of having 2 eggs with a range of sides to choose from as most other places don’t let you change or swap out menu items. Great for picky eaters or if nothing on the menu appeals to you.
My weak mocha was delicious and just the way I like it. Nicely frothed and perfect combination of coffee and chocolate.
I ordered the corn and chorizo salsa with sous vide eggs on homemade sourdough. Now I absolutely love poached eggs so I was really intrigued to see what sous vide eggs would taste like. Can I just say WOW! WOW! WOW! Whoever thought of sous vide eggs is a genius and I applaud them! It’s like a poached egg but a hundred times better! The egg white was soft and silky smooth and with just a gentle prick of my fork the delicious golden egg yolk oozed out. How am I supposed to go back to normal poached eggs after having these amazing sous vide eggs?!
A ordered the sautéed greens with sous vide eggs. Such a unique offering for breakfast. Healthy but still full of flavour. The greens were nicely seasoned and had good contrast in texture with the softness of the greens and crunchiness of the grains. After such a big night out she needed something to revive her and a big bowl of greens definitely did that.
We shared French toast afterwards because it sounded irresistible. The rhubarb jam was tart and went well with the sweet fruit toast. The ice cream was definitely the cherry on top of a wonderful breakfast.
I am looking forward to returning for the sous vide eggs. Definitely a MUST TRY stand out item and the highlight of my breakfast.
