La Lorientaise Creperie is a new cafe that specialises in French crepes. Located amongst a variety of trendy and popular shops on the Elizabeth Street strip in Croydon they join other favourites Queen Street Cafe, Red Door Bakery and recent newcomer Croydon Social.
The venue is large, spacious and completely decked out in wood giving off a very warm and inviting atmosphere.
Weak mocha. My mocha was so deliciously warm and creamy. The milk was really nicely steamed and had very good texture. It also had a good ratio of chocolate and coffee and I really quite enjoyed it.
A and I ordered 2 savoury crepes and 1 sweet crepe to share.
La vegetarienne. Cooked tomatoes, creamy mushrooms, caramelised onions and egg. Each of the individual elements were so rich and full of flavour but they tasted even better when mixed together.
La saumon. Smoked salmon, creamy leeks and lemon. The salmon was light and flakey and the leeks just complimented the fish superbly.
La fraise. Strawberries, Belgian chocolate sauce, strawberry ice cream, chantilly cream and toasted almond flakes. The juicy strawberries, rich chocolate and creamy luscious ice cream were a flavour match made in heaven and the almonds added a lovely crunchy texture.
All 3 crepes were cooked perfectly till golden brown. The batter was buttery, light and thin with a lovely slightly chewy texture.
There were also croissants from La Madeleine on display so I had to snap one up for myself as they are always sold out at their shop in Norwood.
Raspberry and pistachio croissant. The croissant was beautifully crisp and flaky and covered with a sweet shiny glaze. Inside was a pistachio paste and fresh raspberries.
La Lorientaise Creperie make crepes that are so light and full of flavour which leave you wanting to try every single crepe on the menu. A beautiful addition to the Elizabeth Street food hub.
