Jarmer’s Kitchen is a casual and stylish cafe located in the up and coming development suburb of Bowden.
The place is gorgeous and beautifully styled in a plantation design with white walls, wooden furniture and fresh greenery.
My weak mocha tasted nice. The balance of coffee and chocolate was good. The milk needed a little more steaming as it was lacking in texture.
Duck croquettes. The croquettes had a nice crunchy outer coating but I found they tasted quite oily and really needed the sauce to cut through the oiliness.
Kingfish sashimi with soba salad in ponzu dressing. The kingfish was fresh and silky soft but the soba salad was a little bland and really needed more dressing.
Rizzoli anchovies with grilled bread. This dish really caught me by surprise as I was thinking it would be something else when reading the menu but it was just an imported can of anchovies from Italy. The anchovies were rich and salty and full of flavour. Surprisingly this actually turned out to be the best dish out of everything we ordered.
Blue swimmer crab linguine with chilli, herbs, tomato and bisque. This dish was so under seasoned and bland. It really needed a lot more seasoning. I could not taste any crab or chilli at all and the tomato sauce tasted like it was watered down. A real let down as I love crab pasta and order it every time I see it on the menu anywhere I go.
Lamb loin with honey baked eggplants, pancetta and toasted bread crumbs. The pancetta was crisp and deliciously salty and really complimented the soft and sweet eggplant but I found the lamb was really chewy.
I always order dessert whenever I eat out as I like to have something sweet to finish off my meal but the food was disappointing and put me off so I did not try any of the baked goods on display.
Jarmer’s Kitchen looks stunning and is so beautifully fitted out but unfortunately the food was lacking in flavour and was a real let down for me.
