Gondola Gondola is an Asian fusion restaurant serving up street food inspired dishes that are great for sharing.
The venue is styled with wooden furnishings, lush greenery and bright neon lights giving off a tropical and exotic feel. The atmosphere is fresh, cool and fun just like the bars you would find in Asia.
Peep our peaches. Long brewed peach iced tea, aperol, yuzu citron drinking vinegar, vodka and peach tea syrup. Sweet and easy to drink, you could not even taste the alcohol.
Seared scallops with tamarind, lemongrass, chilli and vermicelli. The scallop was plump and had a slight chew.
Salty sweet salad with crispy anchovies, peanuts and green mango. The salad was balanced in flavours with and had a variety of crunchy textures.
Daughter in law eggs with tamarind and fried chilli. The eggs were crispy on the outside while the yolk inside was still soft and creamy. The tamarind added a sweet and tangy flavour while the chilli added a lovely heat.
Coconut milk mussels with lemongrass, basil, mint and chilli. The mussels were pleasantly plump and juicy. The coconut milk added a subtle and creamy sweetness with the herbs giving aroma and hints of spice.
Crunchy squid with chilli salt, ginger and pepper. The squid was soft and tender with a crisp and crunchy outer coating and generously seasoned.
Master master. Slow cooked beef ribs in master stock, cinnamon, star anise and lemongrass. The meat was moist and tender and as a result of the slow cooking just fell off the bone. The master stock sauce was delightfully sticky and sweet.
Entire barramundi deboned and chargrilled in betel leaf and served with special green chilli sauce. The barramundi was wonderfully moist and flakey and the chilli sauce packed an amazing spicy punch that lingered in the mouth.
G.G’s pudding. Jackfruit pannacotta, sago pudding and ice cream. The pannacotta was very faint in jackfruit flavour and was a little firm for my taste.
G.G’s set cream. Coconut crème brûlée with coconut ice cream. The crème brûlée was creamy, silly and smooth with a delicate coconut flavour. The sugar crust was crisp and crunchy and had good caramelisation.
Gondola Gondola have given traditional home style dishes a fresh and modernised update while adding lots of flavour and lots of fun along the way.
