Breakfast and lunch 7 days
Coffee Institute is another modern cosy and casual cafe located in the suburb of Walkerville offering boutique coffee and a variety of breakfast and lunch options.
My weak mocha was very weak. I could not taste the coffee or chocolate at all. It tasted more like sweetened milk so next time I’ll know not to ask for weak. Other than that the milk had good texture and a nice creamy layer of froth on top.
Freshly squeezed watermelon, strawberry, kiwi, carrot and lemon juice. I was hesitant to order this at first because I was unsure of how the carrot and lemon would taste with the other sweet fruits but it turned out to be really refreshingly tangy with a hint of tartness. The addition of carrot makes it seem healthier too.
I came here with breakfast in mind but saw they had burgers on the menu and could not resist ordering one.
Chicken burger. The chicken was marinated in turmeric and had a standard filling of lettuce, cheese and tomato with aioli and chilli sauce on a brioche bun. The chicken was moist and nicely cooked. The brioche bun was very crumbly and did not hold the filling very well and the chilli sauce needed a lot more chilli. I did not find it spicy at all and really would have liked a lot more of a kick.
Sfogliatelle. Beautiful thin layers of pastry shaped just like a little seashell and filled with a zesty orange and ricotta filling. It was a perfect contrast of crispy and crunchy pastry with the smooth and creamy ricotta.
Another great little cafe in my neighbouring suburb. I would love to return again to try out their breakfast menu next time.
