After my solo lunch at Mamachau I really needed a caffeine hit. Since I was close by I texted A and we met up for coffee. I love having a friend who works in the CBD. She gets to discover all these little eateries that I’ve never heard of and tells me all about them.
She took me to Booknook And Bean in Topham Mall. A cute little coffee shop slash book shop where you can read a book while you sip on your coffee.
They also sold some sweet treats. I didn’t want anything too rich after my lunch but still wanted something sweet so I got a blondie with my weak mocha.
The coffee was really good. Nicely steamed, gently frothed and creamy. Just the way I like it.
I liked that the blondie came in 2 sizes. Finger size for those who only want a small treat and full square for those who have a big sweet tooth. It was crispy on the outside and fudgey and moist in the centre. It totally satisfied my sweet craving.
I loved how cosy and comfortable the place was. Perfect to have a nice long catch up with a friend over coffee or chill out alone and immerse yourself with one of the multiple preloved books available.
The books are also purchasable and all proceeds go to charity Kiva. A non-profit organisation that allows people to lend money via the internet to low income entrepreneurs and students in over 80 countries. Their mission is to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. You can learn more on www.kiva.org if you’re interested.
What a great concept. It was so interesting learning about what Booknook And Bean do. So have a great coffee. Read a book. Chill out. Buy one of many preloved books and donate to charity. A feel good coffee store.
