A little bit of Adelaide pho history. Baria were the original and best pho makers in Adelaide and are legendary in the Vietnamese community. Their stock is simmered for 48 hours and their mix of spices create the perfectly balanced soup for their famous beef noodle soup
Since they closed up their original restaurant on Hanson Road. Their family have opened up many others all over Adelaide. Thanh Thanh being one of them.
Thanh Thanh is my go to for pho. They also have a variety of traditional Vietnamese dishes on the menu like do it yourself cold rolls but today I felt like rice.
My coconut juice was very sweet.
K and I both ordered combination rice. It came with roast pork, pork chop, shredded pork, fried egg, omelette, vegetables and a bowl of Vietnamese dipping sauce and clear soup.
Their pork chop is always delicious and crispy. I was disappointed with the roast pork as the crackling wasn’t crunchy at all and my egg was overcooked. I like my yolks soft and runny but it was dry and powdery today.
The soup was beautiful. Very clean and clear which I love. A nice finish to the meal.
The food is so cheap and the service is so quick. Our food came out 5 minutes after we ordered and the restaurant was already packed out when we arrived. Now that is what I call fast food.
Overall a bit disappointed with my meal tonight as they are usually very consistent with their food. I’m hoping today was a one off and they will be back to serving good food again. I’ll be back here again once the weather cools down to get my pho fix.
