Luigi Delicatessen is a small and casual Italian cafe located on the edge of the CBD serving up a fusion of rustic Mediterranean and healthy food customised to your tastebuds.
The venue is very warm and homely with a welcoming atmosphere.
There is a limited menu written on a blackboard and it changes daily depending on what fresh produce is available. If nothing appeals to you the owner Luigi will come out and ask you a few questions so he can make up a personalised meal for you which I thought was extremely cool.
My weak mocha was delightfully smooth and creamy. It had a good balance of coffee and chocolate and the milk had really good texture too.
Crab pasta. Spaghetti with crab in a tomato, chilli and cream sauce. The sauce was light and creamy with a hint of spiciness while the crab meat was generous, sweet and beautifully delicate.
Octopus pasta. Spaghetti in a tomato sauce with octopus tentacles, capers and olives. The sauce was rich and flavourful while the octopus was incredibly soft and tender. The capers and olives provided little bursts of saltiness which I enjoyed and really complimented the tomato sauce.
I also got a chocolate and raspberry muffin to take away which was light and fluffy but nothing too special.
Luigi Delicatessen do amazing personalised meals depending on what fresh produce is available and what your taste preferences are which make you feel really special.
