Level One is the new restaurant located inside Electra House. The old heritage building has been restored into a funky modern venue that gives off a cool hip vibe.
Scampi with lime, avocado, chilli and puffed wild rice. This dish was so light and tangy and melted in the mouth. Loved the combination of creamy avocado and crunchy puffed rice.
Spanner crab with buttermilk, daikon and salted caramel peanuts. The crab was so deliciously rich and plentiful with bursts of citrus. It was so good I had to order another serve.
Kingfish ceviche with horseradish, pink grapefruit and botargo. The kingfish was a bit thick for my liking. I prefer my ceviche to be thinly sliced but it still tasted really nice.
Essence of pork. Textured egg yolk, asparagus and truffle. Such an amazing and interesting dish. The egg yolk was cooked all the way through but was so soft and moist. The broth was full bodied and full of flavour. One of the highlight dishes and definitely a must if you dine here.
Scallops with oyster cream, bacon and sepia cracker. The scallops were plump and juicy and the sepia cracker provided a crunchy contrast.
King prawns with seaweed butter and Japanese seaweed. Simple and sweet king prawns with rich seaweed butter.
Eggplant with miso, chilli, mushrooms and macadamia. The eggplant was soft and spicy and the nuts added tasty crunch.
Aburi trout with nori gel, rice puff, caviar and pickled ginger. I found the trout to be too thick for my liking and it wasn’t seared enough which meant it was lacking in flavour.
Wagyu strip loin with bone marrow and yuzu mustard. The wagyu had a marble score of 4. The steak was beautifully soft, juicy and tender with little bursts of rich bone marrow and the yuzu mustard gave it a spicy kick.
Lime cheesecake with fig, basil seed and coconut. The cheesecake was smooth, light and delightfully creamy. The sorbet on top complimented the cheesecake wonderfully.
Strawberry parfait with consommé, lime cloud and balsamic meringue. The parfait was refreshing and tangy. The fairy floss was light and airy and melted in the mouth and the meringue was so crisp.
Oh my god! Both the desserts were so beautifully exquisite! A perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Level One has a fantastic menu with lots of variety. I enjoyed nearly every single dish. The food tasted divine and each dish was magnificently executed and beautifully presented. An amazing dining experience. I just wish they had a cocktail/mocktail list for people like me who don’t drink wine.
