E For Ethel
E For Ethel is a cute and crafty little gift shop that stock a variety of unique Australian hand made and sustainable gift products. The place is decked out in mismatched décor which gives off a homely and cosy feeling. They also double up as a cafe serving up a small breakfast and lunch menu.
My weak mocha was very weak so next time I will know not to ask for weak. The milk was nicely steamed and had a delicious creamy layer of froth on top. My coffee came with a chocolate button which was a really lovely surprise. It just shows how much thought and detail goes in to their customer service and I was really impressed.
Passion fruit, lime and ginger ale soda. The soda was amazing. Really refreshing, fruity and tangy.
Mushroom bruschetta. Mushrooms, rocket, prosciutto and dukkah on toasted rye bread with tomato relish. I found this dish very bland. The mushrooms had little to no seasoning and were quite dry. Luckily the prosciutto provided some salt to the dish. The tomato relish was sweet and I found the flavour did not go well with the rest of the ingredients. Unfortunately for me I did not like this dish at all and was quite disappointed especially after reading so many rave reviews about the place.
E For Ethel have a range of one of a kind pieces that you won’t find anywhere else in Adelaide and I love how they support local designers.
They have an amazing number of awards and were voted number 5 in the top 100 places to eat in Australia and best coffee in South Australia by Yelp 2015.
With so many positive reviews and winning so many awards it’s unfortunate that I did not enjoy my meal. Maybe another dish would have suited me better.
