Croydon Social is a suburban pizza bar brought to us by the same people behind the ever popular Red Door Bakery.
Located on the same street as 2 other favourites Queen Street Cafe and Red Door Bakery they pride themselves on their dough which is made over 2 days.
The place is decked out with retro furniture giving off a relaxed and casual vibe with a very inviting and homely atmosphere.
Roasted local pears with goats curd, prosciutto and candied walnuts. The plate was a mixture of simple sweet and saltiness.
Roasted chorizo with peperonata. The chorizo was thick, spicy and deliciously juicy and the peperonata was lovely and sweet with a beautiful smokiness.
Sopressa, smoked mozzarella, anchovy, broccolini and chilli pizza. The sopressa was spicy and the anchovies added depth. The chilli gave it an extra kick.
Prawns, capers, parsley, garlic and cherry tomato pizza. The prawns were generously plump and juicy and the cherry tomatoes were bursts of sweetness.
Both of the pizza bases were thin, light and crispy. The toppings were so simple but full of flavour. Amazing flavour combinations.
Beef ragu gnocchi. The gnocchi was light and pillowy soft and the meat in the ragu just fell apart.
Most of the food is made in their wood fire oven giving everything a subtle smokey flavour.
Radicchio, fennel and parsnip salad. Warm roasted parsnip with crunchy radicchio and fennel.
Flourless chocolate cake with spiced orange. The cake was incredibly moist and fudgey and the spiced orange was tangy. The spices were mild and really elevated the dish.
Banana tarte tatin with walnut praline and double cream. This dish was heavenly! The bananas were beautifully caramelised, the walnut praline was sweet and crunchy and the cream helped balance out the richness.
Both desserts were rich and decadent and I absolutely loved every single mouthful.
I am not lying when I say Croydon Social make the BEST pizza in Adelaide and the BEST pizza I have ever tasted. From the simple toppings to the light and airy pizza dough. They really have mastered the dough. It not only tastes delicious but it leaves you full and not bloated.
My dinner experience at Croydon Social was spectacular and I can not stop raving about how incredible their food was. I do not want to tell anyone about this place because I want to keep this amazing secret to myself but if you are planning to visit make sure you come early as the place is quite small and has limited space.
