Crack Kitchen is the newest cafe to grace Franklin Street. Brought to us by the same people behind one of my favourite cafes in the western suburbs The Loose Caboose in Hindmarsh and Whipped Bake Bar down at Semaphore.
Located inside a former bank the 3 levelled venue is furnished in a semi Scandinavian style with pastel accents and fresh greenery. Large windows fill the place up with lots of natural light giving off a very warm and comfortable atmosphere.
Upstairs on the second level they have their own coffee roastery where they roast their own beans. The third level will contain a patisserie which is still currently being formed so we will have to wait in anticipation.
My weak mocha tasted a little bitter and burnt but the milk was nicely steamed and had good texture.
Crack Madame. Smoked ham hock, cheddar cheese and mustard in layers of brioche bread with fried egg and dill mayonnaise. The brioche was golden and deliciously crispy, the ham hock was soft, tender and moist while the fried egg on top gave the dish extra richness.
Crack Kitchen is a winner just like their sister restaurant The Loose Caboose. Their all day brunch menu is just simply scrumptious and I can not wait until they open their patisserie.
