Bar 9 Parkside is the original specialty coffee house. When I think of good quality boutique coffee I always think of Bar 9.
This place is so popular and there is always a line up out the door. There is no booking system unless you have a large group but fortunately the wait is never too long and the venue is pretty big.
There is a variety of seating available from the usual standard tables, high communal tables and lounge chairs for those who prefer something more comfy. They utilise the venue very well making use of the large space.
My bestie C was visiting from Sydney and they have so many places that do such good food and coffee over there as standard. I had to take him somewhere of the same calibre so I took him to the original Bar 9. We were planning on having a long catch up over brunch so we made use of their comfy couches.
My weak mocha was perfectly balanced with the right combination of chocolate and coffee. The milk was nicely steamed and had great texture. Smooth and creamy with a lovely layer of froth on top. These guys seriously make good coffee and they are always consistent which I absolutely love.
House brewed iced tea served with lemon and mint. The tea was lovely, cool and refreshing and not overly sweet.
House baked beans with chorizo served on toasted ciabatta with poached eggs and flaked almonds on top. The bean mixture was soft and creamy and the chorizo was deliciously spicy. My eggs were perfectly poached with rich golden egg yolks oozing out and the almonds added a lovely crunch to the dish.
The runciman’s breakfast. Classic breakfast of San Jose bacon, poached eggs, roasted tomato, swiss brown mushrooms and toasted ciabatta served with rocket and parmesan. Standard breakfast but with quality ingredients. Perfect for those who like a more traditional breakfast.
We decided to share some sweets after our meal after seeing the mouth watering selection of baked goods on display.
Chocolate brownie. The brownie had a lovely crunchy crust on the outside and was moist and fudgey on the inside.
Salted caramel cronut. The pastry was crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside. The caramel sauce was thick and generous with a good balance of sweet and saltiness.
Bar 9 make damn good coffee and their food is also just as amazing. They have a variety of blends available and their brew bar offers the largest range of brewing methods if you want to try something different to the usual espresso. They are always consistent and I am never disappointed every time I come here.
